“ Be the hardest-working person you can be. That’s how you separate yourself from the competition.” — Stephen Curry
OK, entrepreneurs and hard-working business professionals: Listen up. Here’s the way for you to get ahead of the competition and become the best you can be. It’s about doing something that is pretty simple, but it’s not easy.
Before I tell you what the solution is, I’ll share with you an insight that I’ve had, and you might agree with me.
We have too many people today who are looking for the easy way out. They want an easy, quick solution that doesn’t cost anything, that somebody else does for them, and doesn’t interfere with their precious little snowflake life.
Back home, out in the country where I grew up, we called that being lazy.
Life is such that it is hard. It requires not only hard work, but smart work.
The hardest-working person in the room
I think Stephen Curry is right that we have to be the hardest-working person that we can be. This is actually very good news. It means that you don’t have to be the smartest person in the room. It means you don’t have to be the strongest person. You also don’t have to be the tallest, or the shortest, or the best looking, or any other attribute that doesn’t matter.
But it means you need to work your tail off doing the right activities in the right way that generate results. These are the two sides of the results equation. If your competition is sitting at their desks with their fingers laced behind their heads and their feet propped up on the desks, that’s good news for you. But it is only good news if you’re willing to put in the extra work and push yourself.
It is also more than just working hard. You can work hard all day doing something the wrong way and you’re not going to achieve the results you need. You’ll only get frustrated and even more aggravated because you were working hard but not getting the results.
