Skype for Business Applications

by Terry on Saturday, January 31, 2009

Skype is a free service which allows you to connect with people around the world — for free. You can also use the video feature of Skype to see others.

In the following interview, I use Skype to talk with Stefan Oberg, the Vice President and General Manager of Skype Business Development. He is based in Skype’s London office and I recorded this video interview recently with him.

Watch this video and discover ways in which you can build your own bottom line with Skype video. I’m using this technology now with my coaching and helping others in a practical, real way around the world to build their own business. In tough economic times you need a cost-effective tool to gain a competitive advantage. This tool can help you get a decisive advantage.

Enjoy this video and let me know what you think. I look forward to hearing from you.

Great to hear from you, Christa! Yes, that screen share option is pretty cool. I use it often for many features. It is great for solving a client’s issues on their computers. I can see their screen and direct them to solve their problems on their own. they love it!
Very nice to hear from you, Christa. Hope you have a fabulous day and I look forward to seeing you at a future NSA event or elsewhere. Hope you have a great 2011! Terry

Hey there – interesting interview, Terry. Thanks for posting it.

The ‘screen share’ function on Skype is the one we can’t live without. I have 3 people in our company working in 3 different cities PLUS 6 different speakers in 6 different cities (often at overseas events). When we’re training or editing documents or working on projects that require collaboration, the screen share is literally critical to making it work. I use it everyday, multiple times, and am thankful for it every single time.

Man I sound like a commercial. I’m a promoter at heart, I guess ;)

Thanks again Terry!

Likewise. And at the risk of turning this thread into an Advertisement spree, I’d like to mention that Glynx is the best private address book for Skype users.

Like Skype (and unlike web-based contact managers), not only does Glynx run on your PC so that your information stays totaly under your control, but details are shared in real-time – so your address book is always up-to-date.

The Glynx address book is automatic, safe and complete.

Terry: Great stuff. Even those of us who are technically challenged find this exciting! I want to use Skype to record interviews for my humor magazine: Journal of Nursing Jocularity–probably just audio–I don’t think I want the world to see me working in my jammies! I’d love to chat with you about this. Thanks for sharing. You rock!

Terry, great article. Our company OnState (www.on-state.com) converts Skype in to a full-blown sales and customer service offering allowing businesses to communicate via voice, video, or chat. Several of our customers take advantage of the video capabilities to offer virtual training and classroom environments, 1:1 coaching, interviews, etc.

These multi-modal capabilities improve the business to customer relationship and Skype makes it affordable for small business.
