Social media is an integral component of any marketing campaign.
Sometimes, social media is used exclusively to achieve great results.
As a professional speaker in the area of social media and technology, I find that, when done right, social media can build your business more cost effectively than traditional means.
Here are seven key marketing steps that can help you make social media work:
1. Be consistent
This is a principle Klout co-founder Joe Fernandez stressed to me and my co-author, Gina Carr, when we were writing our book about social media management, Klout Matters. He stressed that being there for your community in a consistent, regular way (blog posts, videos, pictures, etc.) is most important. It shows stability and helps your community know you are in this market to stay. This provides confidence and builds trust.
2. Be where your community hangs out
This requires work on your part. Don’t just assume they are on Facebook. They might or might not be there. Start by contributing value in important groups for your community on both Facebook and LinkedIn. This lets people know you’re not just part of the community, but you can help them when they need it.
