Listening to Alison Groves with Raven Marketing. How to get more links and mentions from other relevant sites. Find those you like, know and trust.

Step 1– Research what is a relevant website. Find those you like, know and trust.
#1 keyword-site:domain.com Use Google for this. #2 – Facebook search – Find relevant fan pages. This can lead you to relevant websites and you get social aspect. #3 – The web catalog is your friend. MajesticSEO, SEOmoz, Raven Tools.

Step 2 – Outreach – How do I get a mention?
Stay on point with your story. What is your story? What are you passionate about? As example, you could curate a sample of best choices, then ask website owners to review. Remember there are rules in outreach – #1 – Be genuine. Tell your story. #2 Don’t immediately go in for the kid. Build those relationships. Social Mention – Tool for key phrases in search bar and then you find relevant mentions of keyword in social spaces. Can also use Twitter lists – great way to curate groups you are passionate about. Rapportive – one of Alison’s favorite. Rapportive This is a service I use and love it!

You can grab info on where they live or whatever you want to do

Alison Groves.

Step 3 – Follow Up – You still have to keep in touch. Keep those relationships going. Get a blog metnion? Comment on it. Get a website mention? Share on social networks. Have a physical property? Display the mention. Need to continue fostering great relationships.

Other pointers:
Add the mention to my home page.
Talk about the mention in social media
Hand out flyers with deliveries talking about the mention
SHARE THE LOVE

You gotta keep it organized, yo. Have to do this!

Hang onto this data, or be sad forever….
* Date of first outreach
* Date of follow up
* Type of link you’re working on/acquired (Comment? Guest blog post?)
* Domain for the site
* Website owner’s contact info: email, social media, etc.
* Conversation notes

Keep tabs on the type of blog you’ve got.

Keep the cycle going! Folow up leads to more reearch, which leaders to more research.

Mentions, or links = EXPOSURE*

* and exposure = cash money [very nice!]
