Business-Building Action From Terry Brock
Be sure to listen to the enhanced MP3 audio at the bottom of this post. I look forward to your comments on how you “Get outta’ Gonna’ Do and Get into “Done!” in your own life. Enjoy!
It is so easy to have good intentions. You know what I mean. You really believe when you say that “Someday I’m gonna’ write that book.”
“Someday I’m gonna call that lady.”
Someday I’ll make millions and succeed.”
As I thought of how many times I’ve wanted to do something, really believe I would, and then just never got a round to doing it, I had to pause.
It is time to “Get outta’ gonna’ do and get into “Done!”
Besides “Gonna’ Do” isn’t the place you want to live. It’s filled with promises that don’t come true. It is filled with dreams that ultimately only disappoint. Then as you pile up more dreams that didn’t happen you get more discouraged.
Leave that place! Move over into the place called “Done!” It is filled with wonderful results. It is a place that achieves. It is a place where people live in value-for-value living.
Too often we can make our plans, goals, objectives and have them sitting nicely on a computer, tablet, smartphone, paper —- whatever! — and they just never get completed. That’s because we don’t move from “Gonna’ do” to “Done!” until we take action that turns into positive results.
The problem comes that we really, sincerely mean we will do that important task someday. However, as we’ve heard many times before, “Someday” is not a day of the week. It just never comes along in life.
So what do we have to do? You and I know this but sometimes need a little whack up side the head or a gentle poke in the ribs.
Just Do It!
I think that saying, that Nike embraced, makes a lot of sense.
Sure, you will fall sometimes. Hey, sometimes you’re gonna’ blow in and make a doosey of it (my Grandmother would use that word a lot so I thought I’d share a wee bit o’ my grandma’s wisdom with you today!).
However, as has been said before also, it doesn’t matter how many times you fall down. As long as you keep getting back up, you are still in the game.
Yes, make your “Gonna’ Do” plans. But take immediate action to get the ball rolling. Don’t think you’re finished just because you did the planning and preparation. Take a small, baby-step kind of action to get moving.
Then something magical happens. As you start moving in the right direction, it is easier to get the next step involved. Take that next (small) step. Then the next. Then the next!
You get the idea.
I like the way my buddy Chad Hymas says it, “DO is the first part of the word DOne!” Until you do something, you’ll never get near done. Force yourself to take positive, constructive action towards that goal. You owe it to yourself and to those around you who need your support — and for those who you will help. As you help others, you’ll receive even more yourself. Yeah, it’s one of those laws out there in the Universe that just smiles at us when we put it into practice!
Let me know how you move from the land of “Gonna’ Do” into “Done!” Don’t keep all your good secrets to yourself! I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for sharing!
