You can image why I was delighted during a recent visit to the London Google Campus (http://www.campuslondon.com/ ) which provides a powerful community for business resources, technical assistance, and some very tasty snacks! They also have a Campus in Tel Aviv, Israel, and recently announced plans for another Campus in Warsaw, Poland. Google also has TechHubs in other cities around the which provide similar support and some of the services available on their Campuses.
Google’s Campus provides space, mentor-ship and community. These are all vitally important for entrepreneurs. Google started in a garage in the late 1990’s and now Google Campus provides an even better “garage” for start-ups. The environment helps fuel what is necessary to succeed in business.

Google Campus provides members and visitors the opportunity to create videos on the spot talking about what your business has to offer. http://www.campuslondon.com/media-hub/campus-cam/ This gives members a chance to introduce themselves to others and talk about what they do. This helps build the community as people see each other and learn about areas of commonality. This would be a great idea for many businesses to build a community. You can invite members of the community to share a brief 2-3 minute video about who they are, what they do and areas of interest. This will help build more recognition and awareness of a growing community.
Google’s Campus is the kind of environment that can help start-ups. I would love to see these Campuses spring up in the US and elsewhere around the world. Having the added value of Googlers and other subject matter experts to assist makes it an ideal incubator for businesses.

Just knowing that such a place exists makes moving to London very tempting.
