“Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day.”
Jim Rohn
Sometimes the best tools are those we’ve known about, might have used in the past, but somehow neglected along the way. Well, today I’m here to help remind you of an important tool for every salesperson and entrepreneur for sales and marketing success. Our old friend, the checklist, is one that can help you get more done, avoid the clutter of confusion, and boost your bottom line.
Using a checklist provides a structure for us always-crazy-busy salespeople and/or entrepreneurs. There is so much going on, and so many disruptions happening that it is very easy to be distracted and pulled away from what is important.
So, from one entrepreneur/marketer to another, here’s a checklist to help you use checklists (how appropriate, right?)
- Step #1 – Identify what you really do and your purpose. To do the right activities, you need to clearly define your purpose. Bonus: It is most important to also define what you will not do. The most successful salespeople are those who have blinders on, metaphorically speaking. Focus on what is most important for you and let others do the rest. A checklist can help you focus.
- Step #2 – Identify those key steps that are must-do in your work. Yes, making the sale is critical for all of us, but, go deeper. What are the most important factors that generate sales for you? Build these into your checklist as must-do items. Plan for action by living by your checklist.
- Step #3 – Identify what you need to do each day, several times a week, weekly, monthly, etc. This is something we use working with clients and we have discovered that those clients who implement this type of system get the best results.
