The Kay Herman Legacy Award from NSA-GA – Thank you!

I am deeply honored tonight.  I just got off a Skype video (about 2 hours worth) from here in Panama City, Panama to Atlanta, Georgia.  The National Speakers Association – Georgia Chapter awarded me the 2010 Kay Herman Legacy Award.  This is a very high honor and I so appreciate all my friends and wonderful people at NSA-GA for making it possible.  I an deeply humbled at getting this award.

Though the wonders of technology today I was able to “be there” in Atlanta, Georgia while I am here in Panama.  We used a Skype connection and Kenny Zail and Mike Stewart helped to make that happen.  Thank you both for your help behind the scenes to make it happen.  For you, dear reader, I encourage you to think of ways you can leverage technology to help others even more.  A tool like Skype can help you “be there” even when you can’t be there physically.

This is a time to renew my commitment to serving others (that would be YOU, dear reader!) and to take my game to the next level.  This award has the following criteria for the recipient:

  • Has shown exemplary service to the chapter.
  • Stands as a positive role model within the chapter and NSA and has unselfishly spent time helping other speakers grow, whether experienced or inexperienced.
  • Has represented NSA Georgia/GSA in a leadership capacity for at least two years in the past.
  • Has not been President of NSA Georgia for at least 3 years.
  • Selflessly promotes NSA/NSA Georgia and its members.
  • Has shown active participation at the national level.
  • Uses ethical practices in business.
  • Continuously pursues a higher level of professionalism.

You can see why it is such an honor for me to receive this award.

And for those reading this who knew Kay duPont, my dear friend who was President when I joined what was then called Georgia Speakers Association, thank you, Kay!  My dear friend, and mentor to many of us, Kay duPont, left this planet December of 2009 and she is sorely missed.  She was the daughter of Kay Herman and both Kays just might be smiling tonight.  I don’t know.  Just in case they might be there looking out and smiling I want to say “Thank you” to both of them for the deep influence they have had on my life and the positive examples they gave me.

If you don’t know about either of these wonderful ladies who touched so many lives, I encourage you, dear reader to renew your own commitment to serving others and helping them.  It is a wonderful part of our Free Enterprise System that we get what we need by serving others.  I am recommitting to excellence and helping others as a result of getting this award tonight. I encourage you to do the same.  May you achieve the goals you have and may your life be a legacy for greatness to help others as well.

Thank you, NSA-GA for this very high honor.  I am touched very much.  I pledge to take my game to the next level and be worthy of this very high award.
