Today we are swamped with an incredible amount of information to process. We can’t keep up with it all. So, we have to filter.
For marketers that means that we have to be the filter and provide quality, relevant content that is compelling for our market. Providing information that is “must-read” will help to break through the noise of so much going on.
As an example, today the press is filled with stories about Osama bin Laden being killed in Pakistan. Yes, this is big news and it is part of that noise that we have to contend with to get noticed and stand out.
Providing a continuous stream of relevant, compelling content requires that it be must-view and must-read material for a given market. This is the challenge. It can’t be about you and your product. Instead, finding how you can help others is the key. Focus on them and not what you have.
This has always been the way to market and it is something that we all need to be reminded of from time to time.
So, how are you going to be relevant and compelling today? Start with the pain your audience is experiencing and be a pain-solver today. Meet the needs of others and you’ll always be needed.
Your thoughts and comments? I look forward to hearing from you.
