I particularly like this reasoning and thinking. This quote is from on of the Stoics, ancient Greek & Roman people whose wisdom still touches us today.
I particularly like this quote from Seneca. I like to get wisdom from a variety of people and sources. Even if a bad person says something that is good, I’ll focus on the value of that good saying, even if the person saying it is bad.
This is an important principle in life. Even bad, immoral people can say or do something right. Too often in today’s world we want to condemn everything someone has said if they turned out to be terrible in other ways.
We gain a lot when we focus on the good of the statement. Yes, we can acknowledge that the person might have been immoral, corrupt, even evil. However, that doesn’t negate the fact that a particular quote or action by that same person was good.
We can learn a lot from others. I believe we can learn from everyone — even if it is not be like that person! This is a more freeing way to live.
