Terry Brock [00:00:00]:
Have you seen what they just did with ChatGPT? They put in personalities so that you can have the kind of voice, the kind of inflection that you need, and the kind of text output when you’re using it for, say, word processing or something like that. And you want to do it for writing, for creative writing. It is amazing. The personality is there. Now you think, okay, where do we go and press a button for that? No, no, no, I’m going to show you exactly what they are, how you can use it, and we’re going to have some fun with this one. This is one that you want to look at if you’re a content creator, to make sure you’ve got different kinds of style and you address the needs of your audience even better. This is what you can do with it. And to do that, I’ve got a slideshow put together for you here that’s got some really nice features in it.

Terry Brock [00:00:41]:
And we’re going to talk about mastering the GPT. ChatGPT personalities unlock the power of AI communication by choosing the right personality for every task. I’m Terry Brock with Stark Raving Entrepreneurs where we help you to build your business and achieve the freedom you want, all in a live and let live environment. And one of these things that you can do with it is using ChatGPT with the new kind of tools that they have. I just found out about this the other day and started working with it and I’m blown away with it. I mean, yeah, even this jaded journalist is going, whoa, that is pretty amazing to see it. So let’s take a look at what it does first of all, and how you’re going to use this in practical business matters. I’m going to show you this.

Terry Brock [00:01:23]:
Stay with me through this video all the way through to the end, because we’re going to show you exactly how you can start using it and making some things work. So if you look at it at first, what are they? Well, the ChatGPT personalities are distinct communication styles that they adapt to the AI’s tone, the approach and focus to match your specific needs and audience. So what does that mean? Well, sometimes you need somebody that’s going to go, hey, I don’t know if that’s quite so right. And you can use the tool like the cynic, that personality, or you might need to have really care for someone and think, okay, what are you going through? Seems like it’s pretty tough right now. How do you feel about that? There’s a listener personality that you can use. There’s A couple others, too. We’re going to go through all of those so you can see exactly how they work and exactly what you can do to make these things come together and work for you. So let’s take a look at.

Terry Brock [00:02:11]:
There’s three areas here. First of all, you have tailored communication, and then you look at your context, that will matter. And then also you look at your strategic choice. So the strategic choice you have, what that means is, first of all, each personality brings unique strengths to, to different types of conversations and tasks. And the right personality can make the difference between confusion and clarity. You know what I’m talking about with that. Like, for instance, if I look at someone and I say, hey, Jim, you looked really good today. Think about the words I just used, Jim, you looked really good today.

Terry Brock [00:02:46]:
And those words by themselves in print, you would think, okay, I was telling me looked good, right? But the way I said it, with that inflection, yeah, Jim, you look really good today. Suppose Jim and I are good buddies. We poke fun at each other regularly. You know, I’m just messing with him. We’re having some fun there. And the difference is the tonality. Now, you can use that within ChatGPT, which is going way ahead. This is almost like Star Trek or Lost in Space.

Terry Brock [00:03:13]:
And some of those you don’t remember from way back there, when we had those on, those are really good. And the capabilities are amazing, what we could do. And you also can have a strategic choice because with this, you can match the personality to the purpose that maximizes the AI effectiveness in your workflow. See, this comes down to the bottom line to give you more connection and to achieve more of the business results you need. So we need to, first of all, look at how the trans, how they work. The personalities will transform your work from technical documentation to empathetic coaching. And each personality serves specific professional needs with precision and with purpose. I like the way they’re doing this and the way they’re making it happen.

Terry Brock [00:03:58]:
So there’s a couple things I want to talk with you about here. Three things specifically. First of all, you want to identify the goal that you have. Determine what you need. Is it analysis? Is it empathy? Technical precision? Maybe creative insight, Whatever it is you need. Then you can tell ChatGPT to act as a robot and respond to this this way, or act as a listener and care for the person using these words. And then you put that word in there or you’ll have it create the words for you. Or act as a listener and tell me what you would say in this situation.

Terry Brock [00:04:30]:
Those are some of the ways you can do it. Secondly, you want to match the personality. Select the personality that aligns with your communication style and the audience needs. And the third option is to optimize results. What you do is you’re going to take a look at that and you’re going to be able to fine tune your approach really in there. So it’s based on the personality strengths and the limitations that it has a lot of good possibilities. So here are the five personalities. Matter of fact, you might want to grab a pen and paper or note taking device of choice and write these down.

Terry Brock [00:05:01]:
Write these five down because this is going to come in handy for you. This is about how each brings value to your AI interactions, each of them in a unique way at the right time. The first one and the second one, default and then the cynic. The default is the one you’ll use most of the time and the cynic will come in every now and then. It’s really good. So if you want to step back, like for instance, I was working with Chat GPT today writing my post that I sent out and it encouraged me to start that, start an email with the cynic voice saying, oh, so you think you’re doing it this way. Have you noticed that it doesn’t work? Have you noticed that that doesn’t work? Well, here’s a reason why the cynic is coming out saying that. Whereas the default might say, oh, that style does not work as well, but it will.

Terry Brock [00:05:46]:
You can do that this way. That’s nice. But sometimes you need that little edge to be in there. So the cynic is one you’ll use occasionally at the right time. The robot, really good for delivering factual information. Very straightforward, very easy to understand. It tells you what to do. The listener is going, hey, what do you mean? How do you feel about that? And the nerd, well, that’s one that’s mine at heart of saying nerds to statistics.

Terry Brock [00:06:12]:
If you got some statistics there, I’ll say it right, statistics that are coming in there. What you want to do is you want to treat that with the nerd style. That can be really helpful and you’ll be able to have a variation. And you see, that’s the real key. What you want to do with all of this, the reason we’re doing it is because you want to use the right voice, the right style, depending on the communication you have. You’re not always saying the same thing. Sometimes in business there’s good news, hey, good things happen, we did well, or hey, folks, it’s time for us to get tougher. Did you see what happened last quarter? We did not hit our goals and this is why, okay, there’s a time to get serious then there’s a time for saying here’s the statistics and what the data says.

Terry Brock [00:06:55]:
There was a report over at Da Da Da Da and they said such and such. Those kind of things are important and that’s what we want to focus on, to have the difference of the capabilities to be able to address what needs to be done when it needs to be done. And so what you’re going to have here is a default personality. That’s the very first one. I like that one. And that’s the one that Chat GPT will go with. It’s clear and it’s focused and it’s conversational but professional. What you want to do is you want to think, okay, this is a colleague who knows a lot and doesn’t gloat.

Terry Brock [00:07:25]:
That’s a nice way to look at the default personality of what it is and how it can be used. If you look at the communication style there, well, the communication style is very versatile and approachable, maintaining professionalism while staying conversational and accessible. There’s a lot to be said for that and your tone characteristics. This is important, balanced between formal and casual, neither too technical nor overly amplified. You got that right. Balance. This is one you’ll want to use often. Also, there’s the audience appeal.

Terry Brock [00:07:56]:
So you want it safe for most audiences, which makes it ideal for general business communication. This is one you’ll want to use a lot of the default personality applications. Well, let’s see, has things like here. It’s perfect for emails, for newsletters, marketing copy, a workshop outline and short coaching notes. So you’ve got some things in there for that. It works really well for that and a way you could use that here as an example. You can say, here’s a clear step by step plan that you can use. That’s a typical default personality is the opener that sets the helpful, structured tone.

Terry Brock [00:08:29]:
Very nice, very straightforward. Then secondly, here’s the one I kind of fought against it initially. The cynic personality and the way it’s described here, I think it’s kind of interesting. The way chatgpt describes it is dry, skeptical and wry. Questions, assumptions, points out flaws bluntly, like a seasoned critic with a soft laugh. So you can put that in there with a soft laugh. I made sure I put that in because hey, that’s my style. Those of you that know me know I’m not going to be the Senate coming out.

Terry Brock [00:08:56]:
You didn’t. That you didn’t. I just don’t do that. I’d rather try to find it. But I also have realized, Terry, you can’t just always go, oh, we’re going to just be nice and everything’s going to be happy in the real world. Sometimes you got to say, hey, time to get tough here. What are we doing wrong? What happened? And by the way, Sam, what you did last month wasn’t up to your best. You can do better than that.

Terry Brock [00:09:16]:
Come on, let’s go with it, Martha. Come on, we can do this. What you did last month was great, and we know you can do it again. Let’s get with it. Go here. So the cynic, they call it a cynic personality, I think can be very helpful in many different ways. And you want to play with that and experiment with it. I would encourage you to try this, go into ChatGPT and then put in some text and say, explain this text to me of what just happened here.

Terry Brock [00:09:39]:
But I want you to put it in the tone of a cynic and let it and watch how it operates and says it to you. That will be real important and you’ll be able to get a lot of good from that. So as we look at that, it’s involving critical thinking, direct communication, and risk awareness. This is where the Senate comes in. It challenges your assumptions and it identifies potential weaknesses and arguments or in strategies, hey, this is the kind of person that you want. Matter of fact, think of it in a way like a lawyer who you’ve hired, a professional lawyer. That lawyer who is really good is going to say, hey, you can’t do it that way. You’re going to have to do it this way.

Terry Brock [00:10:17]:
You’re in front of the judge and the jury. If you do it that way, you do what you want, but I would not recommend it. You would have this problem and that problem. Or they might say, yeah, you really need to do it over here. This is the way to do it. When you do it this way, 9 out of 10 times in my experience as a lawyer, it’s worked when you do that. So you want that critical thinking built in when you’re looking at this and when you look at, okay, here’s what we can do then. Next we have the direct communication that delivers the feedback without sugarcoating, focusing on the honest assessment.

Terry Brock [00:10:45]:
It’s like, hey, folks, we didn’t hit our numbers last month and we blew it. And now we got to get back, we got to get this thing Going again, here’s what we’re going to do to make it happen. So you put that into the tone and you put the prompt in there asking it to use the cynic voice to describe the results of last month. So now we’re getting some real results. Then you have risk awareness. That means it naturally identifies the potential problems and the areas of concern. You need somebody like this in your life. Now you’ve got chat GPT to help out on that and to do the research, the hard work when it really needs done.

Terry Brock [00:11:19]:
Then the cynic personality applications. Well, it is ideal for drafting rebuttals, for stress testing, testing pitches, for editing hype, heavy copy and poking holes in strategy. You need that kind of person around that kind of personality to say, yeah, but what about, yeah, are you sure about that? We need that. And now you’ve got that. Here, here’s something. It’s a way you can use it where you go, yeah, that’s cute, but here’s where it’s likely to fall flat. The classic cynic personality opener that immediately signals critical analysis. I like that.

Terry Brock [00:11:56]:
And again, we need that personality. Now here’s another one. Third one is the robot personality. The robot personality is precise. It is literal, neutral, minimal frills, highly structured and sometimes a little bit terse. Okay, we got it. And you see that it emphasizes facts, formats and the cold, the code style outputs. So in other words, this is one you’re going to need sometime when you need to know the truth, when you’ve got to get the answer.

Terry Brock [00:12:24]:
Similar to cynic. But this one’s a little more matter of fact going through. Here’s what needs to be done. Let’s take a look at that one when we see what it does. First of all, it gives you the ability to have precise focus and structured output as well as efficiency driven. Three very important things that, hey, you need those in what you’re doing, how you’re doing it. Let’s take a look at some of the specifics on this. It delivers information with technical accuracy and minimal emotional coloring.

Terry Brock [00:12:54]:
Sometimes you need your lawyer, maybe your medical doctor to come in and say, okay, hey, you got to lose this weight. If you don’t, you’re not going to make it. Or you got to do this or this operation is needed. Sometimes you need professionals to tell you what to do and when to do it and how to do it. It also gives you that structured output. I really like this one. It organizes information in clear logical formats that prioritize functionality. So it’s saying, okay, we Got to do this versus that and give you ways to do it.

Terry Brock [00:13:24]:
And then it has the efficiency driven side where it cuts through the unnecessary details to deliver the core information quickly. This is something that we need regularly. We need people that can do that for us and give us that kind of structure that we need and be very efficient to say, okay, we didn’t hear our numbers last month and we got to turn it around. We got to make this happen right now. So everyone, here’s the plan, here’s how we’re going to make it happen. Then what we want to do is get back into the next one, which is the robot applications. These applications are excellent for spec sheets, for scripts, transcripts, data parsing and SEO metadata creation. So those kind of things that are going to be really important there, you want to make sure that you look at those and you say, okay, we’re going to let the robot deliver this because the robot can do it very well.

Terry Brock [00:14:13]:
So you see what we’re doing with all of these different personalities. You’re using a different personality for each kind of presentation. It is contextually sensitive to what’s going on. This is great. Before human beings could do this and we didn’t expect computers or technology to do it, but now with this, it is extraordinarily important. We can do it. And hey, it’s pretty nice you want to start using this and get ahead of your competition to see what’s available and what’s possible. Here’s some ways you could look at it.

Terry Brock [00:14:45]:
You could collect the data. Step two, you have normalized and output CSV. So things like that is what you would do. You can talk about it that way. So it’s a typical robot personality approach, direct, structured and action oriented. And again, that’s one we need every so often. Now here’s one that I like. This is me, the listener personality.

Terry Brock [00:15:06]:
With this, it’s patient, it’s empathetic, it’s reflective, it asks good questions, mirrors back feelings, builds trust. And you can think about it like a therapeutic coach. We all need those kind of people from time to time in our lives. And I like the way they do that here. When we look at what it is, well, it’s got some components as well. First of all, it’s empathetic. That’s important to be able to hear people where they are. That means it prioritizes understanding emotions and perspectives before you start offering solutions.

Terry Brock [00:15:39]:
You know what I mean? Someone that comes in and says, tell me what you’re feeling, how you doing on that? Don’t come in necessarily at the right time going, okay, hold it, hold it. What’s wrong? Let’s get it solved right now. Sometimes you need a real human being there to help you out on that. You also need, here’s a key important phrase. Active listening. This active listening is important to find out what are they doing. Not just come in talking about it, but you make it happen there. This means what you do is you reflect back on what’s heard and you ask clarifying questions to deepen the understanding.

Terry Brock [00:16:10]:
Very important to say, am I got this right? Did you do that? Did you do this? And is that right? And then here you want the trust building. The trust building means what you’re going to do is you create a safe space for open communication and for vulnerable sharing. Very important. And when we can do that, we’re going to be able to get a lot more done. And from a business point of view, you get more done. Bottom line, that really is important. So the listener personality applications, well, it’s perfect for coaching sessions, customer empathy mapping, testimonial mining, and conversational video scripts. All of this and more would be really, really good.

Terry Brock [00:16:51]:
When you’re looking at your various projects. I love that picture there, the Project Phoenix, the way you’re doing that now, the lady there, taking a look at that, you can just see she’s analyzing this. She’s the kind of person you want to have on your team. I they’re listening to it. They’re being attentive to what’s going on. So we want to do that. Here’s some ways you might hear it. It might be okay.

Terry Brock [00:17:10]:
Tell me what’s most frustrating right now. I’ll reflect it back and we’ll map our next steps. I like that we’re going to do that. So what you’re doing is you’re using listener personally opener. A listener personality opener that invites sharing and promises understanding. This is most welcome many times. And now we can do it. And then here’s the other one.

Terry Brock [00:17:32]:
This is what I like. This is the fifth one, the nerd personality. Now, I’m kind of a nerd at heart, so I also sometimes lean toward that. What it is, it’s enthusiastic. Okay, I’ve been guilty of that. Guilty detail. Hungry Deep dive mode. Yeah, I’ve done that.

Terry Brock [00:17:47]:
Prepares footnotes, citations, analogies, technical nuance, and loves examples. Those are real important when you can say, well, I’ll give you an example on that. So this is where it can come in. Here are three things that can be very important with it as you look at it when you start working with that and you start seeing it. First of all, you have deep research, and that gives you the ability to go in there, find out what’s happening on. On this situation, Technical expertise and example Rich, all this coming in there strong. So, for instance, first of all, it dives into comprehensive analysis with supporting evidence and detailed explanations so that you can find out, okay, what’s really going on here. Secondly, under the technical expertise, it provides thorough technical understanding with the proper context and the nuance.

Terry Brock [00:18:35]:
Hey, this is kind of nice. And then for the example Rich, what it does there, it supports the concepts with multiple examples and practical applications. That’s real important because we have learned from training and learning that multiple examples sometimes open the door. Sometimes you go, well, this is how it is. And somebody goes, I don’t understand that. Their brain functions a different way. Doesn’t mean they’re stupid. Doesn’t mean something’s wrong with them.

Terry Brock [00:18:59]:
By having multiple examples, though, hey, you got something. That’s a winner there. Because you can say, well, it’s kind of like this. And they go, I don’t know what you mean. Well, let’s try this approach. How about that? I think a little bit more maybe, but I still don’t. Wait a minute. What about this approach over here? And they go, now it makes sense.

Terry Brock [00:19:20]:
By using the multiple examples, then what you’re able to do is you’re able to say, okay, we found it in different ways how it can work, and you appeal to the needs of that person. And in business, bottom line, you get the results you need. Which is most important? Here’s the applications for the nerd personality. Well, it’s ideal for deep technical explanations, for book summaries, and for educational scripts. All this really nice. And so there is a time when you’ll want to use that. So, for instance, if you have something like, well, here’s the concept, then three examples, and then here’s the math behind it. Real nice.

Terry Brock [00:19:54]:
That’s a logical way to do it with a nerd. The nerd personality opener that promises comprehension and structured learning. This is good when you got to learn something real fast and you got to make sure you know what’s going on. Well, that can help you a lot in many different ways. A structured learning process. And the nerd can set that up for you and help you and think about something like that for the right people. When you’re doing onboarding, onboarding, learning and training, hey, this can be real important. The strengths and weaknesses of it.

Terry Brock [00:20:25]:
Well, first of all you want to understand when each personality excels and where it falls short. This is why they give you five different personality modes in chat GPT so you can get the right one working with it. Your default personality strengths, versatility, safety and mixed task capability. That means it adapts well to various tasks and audiences without major adjustments that are needed. It also gives you safety so you have a low risk of offending or confusing audiences. With its balanced approach. This is real good for content creators. And then the mix task capability, it handles the explainers, editing and short strategy work very effectively.

Terry Brock [00:21:08]:
I like that. Very, very nice. Your default personality weaknesses, well, lack of specialization and generic output and limited emotional range, meaning it’s not specialized enough for tasks requiring strong emotion or deep technical detail. However, over here on your generic output, it may produce content that feels safe but lacks the distinctive voice or edge. You need that. So that’s a possible danger when you’re working with the default personality. And then also it struggles with tasks requiring satire, strong persuasion or emotional depth. It just doesn’t quite get it.

Terry Brock [00:21:47]:
It is, well, kind of a robot in its mode. So that’s why we use different areas. The default personality use cases well, you can use that when you need reliable professional communication that works across diverse audiences and contexts. Nice to know it’s good for that with a cynic personality strengths. What you’re looking at there is you’re looking at the ways that you can use it with critical analysis, with risk detection and with claim tightening. What do we mean by that? Well, let’s take a look at that. First of all, we mean that it excels at identifying weaknesses and testing the argument validity. This can be real helpful if you’re trying to figure out what do we do here? You get the computer to help you think through the problem as if you had an expert right there with you, talking it through, getting it done.

Terry Brock [00:22:36]:
You also have risk detection, so it’s what’s going on there naturally spots the potential problems before they become issues on that and the claim tightening. Now this can be kind of handy because what you’re going to get here is you’re going to be get the helps to define your overly optimistic or unsupported statements. Very nice with that. It will give you that capability. The personality weaknesses well, a harsh perception, defensive reactions and limited encouragement. It can come across as motivating, overly negative to sensitive audiences. And it may trigger defensiveness when audiences interpret criticism as personal attacks. And it’s not ideal for situations requiring motivation or positive reinforcement.

Terry Brock [00:23:24]:
And the personality use cases where you would want to use that. It’s perfect for stress testing ideas that can be really important, for editing overly promotional content and for preparing for challenging questions. All of these real important and good. And then the robot personality strengths, well, it’s technical precision which delivers accurate, structured information without emotional interference. Also you have data handling which excels at processing and formatting your complex data into usable formats. And it has systematic output. That systematic output is real nice because it gives you the ability to get a lot more done in many different ways. The robot personality weaknesses, well, they include cold communication, limited nuance and persuasion gaps.

Terry Brock [00:24:14]:
Kind of the opposite of the listener personality they talked about. But sometimes you need that. And again, the whole thing is there’s no one style that’s good for everything. Of the five that are there, you will go back and forth between them depending on what it is that you need to accomplish and what you need to get done. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Like for instance here with a cold communication, it can heal or excuse me, it can feel impersonal. When human connection or empathy is really needed with a limited nuance, well, it struggles with subtle communication requiring emotional intelligence. Yeah, you definitely need that right there.

Terry Brock [00:24:52]:
And then with the persuasion gaps, well, it’s not effective for tasks requiring influence or motivational messaging. You’ll want to make sure that you have the right tool in the right way. And the personality use cases for robot, well, that would be essential for technical documentation, data analysis, your code generation and structured content creation. All of these factor in together and give you the capability to do a lot. So you see again, you’re using different kinds of tools, different personalities for different cases. And what it is that you need to take care of, what you want to do is be able to look at those. Now when you’re in that listener mode, well, there’s some personal strengths that are there. The personality strengths that are there give you the ability to do emotional intelligence, trust building and the discovery excellence.

Terry Brock [00:25:44]:
This is really nice with the emotional intelligence, well, it naturally understands and responds to emotional needs and to concerns with the appropriate sensitivity. This is needed in business. It’s needed with human nature. Wherever you are, you need to make sure you’re in tune with what people are looking for. And with the trust building, it lets you create safe places for open dialogue and vulnerable sharing through active listening. Very, very nice for that. And in the discovery excellence, what it does is it asks insightful questions that uncover deeper insights and hidden needs. This is where you’re getting into really what’s going on and how someone really feels with it.

Terry Brock [00:26:26]:
Your listener personality use cases. Well, that would include things like being able to have customer research. It’s invaluable for that, for coaching conversations, user interviews and empathy driven content creation. All of this very important so that you can get the kind of information that you need when you need it. And finally, let’s take a look at our friends, the nerds. I love the nerds. We have research depth, technical mastery and example integration. So for instance, with that research depth, it provides comprehensive analysis with supporting evidence citations.

Terry Brock [00:27:04]:
This is amazing. It’s working sometimes at a PhD dissertation level of connection to help you on that. For technical mastery, well, it handles complex technical concepts with the appropriate nuance and detail. That’s really a skill not a lot of people have, but those that do, we need that now. It’s built into Chat GPT and you’re able to use that in some amazing ways. And with their example integration, it supports abstract concepts with concrete relatable examples that can help you in many, many different ways. So the nerd personality weaknesses, overall explanation, your density issues and audience mismatch are three of them. It can bury the main points in excessive detail.

Terry Brock [00:27:51]:
I’ve heard that before. And technical complexity, oh boy. My goodness. That happens too often and it may feel overwhelming. For casual readers seeking quick insights, this is important. If you’re writing something, you’re putting that copy out. You might not want the nerd personality for every audience. For some audiences, yes.

Terry Brock [00:28:09]:
And then for the audience mismatch, well, it’s not suitable for audiences that prefer a simple, accessible explanation and communication. So you’ll want to adapt each of them accordingly. And the nerd personality use case? Well, things like it’s perfect for educational content, for research summaries, for technical comparisons and in depth analysis projects. All of these, it just sparkles. So you want to use your personality type, the kind that works best. You want to first begin by defining your purpose. Identify your specific goal goal and the outcomes that you want. The kind of output you’re looking for.

Terry Brock [00:28:50]:
Start with that. Then our second step. Know your audience, consider their preference and their communication style. What is it that they want? How are they doing? If you come in with one style that you think is going to work, a robotic style, and they are listeners oriented, they want more feeling and compassion, you’re going to miss it. But if you can tie into where they are, you’re going to do much better. You want to also match the personality. Select the personality that aligns with both the purpose and the audience so they’re all together and then finally evaluate the results so you can assess the effectiveness and adjust for future interactions so you’ll be able to work together this way. This is going to give you what you need.

Terry Brock [00:29:34]:
So what you’re doing is you’re maximizing AI effectiveness with the right personality choice. It transforms AI from a generic tool into a specialized assistant perfectly suited for your specific needs. This is the key, the summation for the whole thing of what we’re talking about here. Real, real important that you’re going to be able to say, okay, whatever it is that people need, we’re going to have the right personality meeting them, being context sensitive to what’s going on and what they need. For our friends who speak Spanish, here’s a summary of this episode in Spanish:
