CES 2017, the annual January event sponsored by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is off and running.
I’ve been attending this event almost 20 years and have seen it get better each year as it is fueled by the hope of better technologies and a better future.
CES is a unique environment where about 175,000 people from many countries around the world gather to unabashedly show new products, services and ideas to help generate more business. The focus is on how free markets and new technologies can make the world a better place by helping each person involved to develop more business.
Think of a place with 175,000 entrepreneurially-minded people (even if they work for someone else) all scurrying about to get knowledge and cooperating to help others in their own business. The theme is positive, even if it is very hectic and ultra fast-paced.
This is what the free market is about. It is not about fighting or hurting others. It is about understanding new possibilities and thinking of ways to prosper and be more successful. Relationship marketing is vividly on display here.
Hover
There are many products which debut here and then work with the feedback received to revise and adjust. One new product I saw was called Hover, and it billed itself as “your personal self-flying photographer.” This product from China is a small drone that looks ideal for carrying with you in a trade show, around the office, or in another environment where some aerial photography might be helpful.
The $599 product is now available, and is an example of the drone technology we have today. It shoots 4K resolution and has a 13MP camera. Here’s a quick video I shot of it being shown at CES.
